Italy’s “Istituto Europeo di Design” is scheduled to showcase its future urban electric vehicle at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle, named “Tracy,” was developed by students from the master’s program.
Tracy is 147 inches (about 3,734 mm) long and 7 inches (178 mm) longer than Fiat 500. An asymmetric seat like a sofa can carry six passengers. This is because they used an electric motor much smaller than a gasoline engine. Large glass also gives passengers a wide sense of space.
Tracy’s exterior resembles Smart ForTwo. Most of the exterior is white, and the floor is gray. There are several prominent yellow points on panels protecting the front and rear glass. The interior is a lounge with no separate cargo space. Therefore, items larger than briefcase should be laced to the front or back of the vehicle.
The tracy will be equipped with a jacked-up suspension and a Pirelli Scorpion ATR tire.
Tracy is a pure electric vehicle and four-wheel drive is also provided. However, the IED said it would keep a secret about what was underneath the body, what was the maximum driving distance and performance. The reason is because the students who made concept cars studied design, not engineering.”
There are no specific plans to put Tracy into production. Tracy illustrates how next-generation designers are envisioning future urban cars.
